YERING FARM
|
|
The History of Yering Farm goes back to the 1850's when the Deschamp family were leaving Paul De Castellas Yering Vineyard after supervising its planting .The Deschamps ended up in the township of Lilydale, planting their own vineyard. A number of years later the Deschamps were finding that the rising cost of their land was uneconomical, so in 1894 they sold the town vineyards and set up the new one in Yering, in the heart of the Yarra Valley in Victoria. The vineyard flourished for a time however due to the economics of the time most of the Yarra Valley Vineyards were replaced by other farming ventures. Decades past, the vineyards were returned. Yering Farm was replanted in 1989. From budburst to bottle, every stage of production is personally controlled by winemaker/proprietor, Alan Johns. These premium wines reflect Alan's "hands on" experience in fruit growing and winemaking
